The story since 2002

Chances Casino Kelowna dates from 2002. It is operated by Goldwing Investments (Saskatoon) Ltd, doing business as Chances Kelowna Gaming & Entertainment, and its founder is Stan Walt. It began as a bingo and community gaming centre. Slots arrived in 2005, followed later by off-track betting, live tables, a poker room and food and drink. Bingo ended in August 2022 after about 35 years.

The property covers 42,000 square feet, with a team of more than 200 employees. Chances says it has not launched an online casino. It warns about scam sites that use its name. Within B.C., BCLC operates PlayNow.com as the provincial online gambling site.

Parking, buses and cash

The on-site lot facing the Springfield Road main entrance costs nothing to park in and has EV charging. By bus, the stops Springfield Rd at Dayton St and Springfield Rd at Burtch Rd are about 150 m away. Routes 8 University / College and 11 Rutland / Downtown serve both. Several ATMs stand on the casino floor, and table chips can be bought with cash at the table.

Government-issued photo ID has been required of everyone entering a B.C. casino since June 26, 2023. The ID is scanned by security and compared with the roster of people barred from entry, Game Break enrollees among them. Inside, staff at the GameSense information centre explain how games work and the odds, and help guests set personal limits.
